Gen3 - Fault - Debug Pressure Sensor Faults

When there is a failure of the pressure sensors in the Gen3-LMS system. The following error message will occur for each pressure sensor.
  1. N14 - Main Lift Cylinder Head Pressure Sensor Fault
  2. N15 - Main Lift Cylinder Rod Pressure Sensor Fault
  3. N16 - Compensation Cylinder Head Pressure Sensor Fault
  4. N17 - Compensation Cylinder Rod Pressure Sensor Fault
The pressure sensor error message numbers are different for the ITC version of the Gen3-LMS, however the same tests can be still be applied

When one of the above error messages occurs the failure could occur in either one of the following hardware components
  1. Pressure Sensor - The pressure sensor itself could be damaged, look for any indications of impact or other physical damage
  2. CPIM - The input signal processing in the CPIM may be damaged
  3. Cable - The cable to the pressure sensor may be cut or damaged, look for any indications of damage or pinching on the cable
If there is no evidence of damage on each of the hardware components or to confirm the correct damaged hardware component has been identified complete the following tests

The following tests can not be performed if there are multiple pressure sensor errors

Test Pressure Sensor

Swap the pressure sensor cables at the pressure sensors. If the error message changes this confirms the pressure sensor has been damaged.
For example if the error is N16, then swap the pressure sensor cables between the compensation cylinder head & rod pressure sensors.
If the error message then changes to N17, this confirms the compensation head pressure sensor has been damaged.
If the error message remains N16, this indicates that the CPIM or cable have been damaged, complete the other tests to confirm which components have been damaged.

Test CPIM

Swap the pressure sensor cables at the CPIM. If the error message remains the same this confirms the CPIM has been damaged.
For example if the error is N16, then swap the pressure sensor cables between the connections labelled Compensation Head & Compensation Rod on the CPIM.
If the error message remains N16, this confirms the CPIM has been damaged.
If the error message changes to N17, this indicates the pressure sensor or cable have been damaged, complete the other tests to confirm which components have been damaged.

Test Pressure Sensor Cable

Perform the tests above for the Pressure Sensor and CPIM before testing the cable otherwise the results may be inconclusive
Swap the pressure sensor cables at both the pressure sensors and CPIM. If the error message changes this confirms the cable has been damaged.
For example if the error is N16, then swap the pressure sensor cables between the compensation cylinder head & rod pressure sensors and also swap the pressure sensor cables between the connections labelled Compensation Head & Compensation Rod on the CPIM.
If the error message changes to N17, this confirms the cable has been damaged.
