Gen3 - Faults - Camera Troubleshooting

Notes
The Gen 3 system is commonly ordered with two cameras (forward & reverse)
The CCIM 'Camera/Power' port is the main power supply and video feed port for these two Gen 3 cameras. The harness that plugs into this port has three separate wire bundles. The camera relevant wire bundle is approximately 50 centimeter in length, it has two power jacks and two RCA jacks at the end.  It also has (approximately 10cm) from the end, two inline 1 Amp blade power fuses; one for the front camera and one for the rear camera.

Photo below of an EQSS CCIM module with all ports visible

Rear Camera cable run:
Camera pig tail - approx 40cm
  1. RCA Video output
  2. 12V DC power input jack
  3. 2-Pin image reversal jack (jumper reverses the image)
Front Camera cable run:
Camera pig tail - approx 40cm
  1. RCA Video output
  2. 12V DC power input jack
  3. 2-Pin image reversal jack (jumper reverses the image)
Connections from Rear Camera to CCIM
Camera pig tail connects to -> 5 meter Yellow RCA & Power supply extension cable loom (PN: CB001032) , which then connects to -> CCIM 'Camera/Power' harness - Black RCA Jack, which then connects to -> CCIM 'Camera/Power' port
White RCA connector is not used

Connections from Front Camera to CCIM
Camera pig tail connects to -> 5 meter Yellow RCA & Power supply extension cable loom (PN: CB001032) , which then connects to -> CCIM 'Camera/Power' harness - Red RCA Jack, which then connects to -> CCIM 'Camera/Power' port
White RCA connector is not used

Fault Finding
Problem:
Telehandler in drive forward selection but no forward camera vision; only a blue rectangle appears.

The blue rectangle means that the video path is active, but the camera isn't actually sending a video image.
Troubleshooting Steps:
1. Inspect the camera for water ingress. Camera full of water will render the camera unusable
2. Check the inline 1A blade fuse in the 'Camera/Power' harness and make sure that it hasn't blown
3. At both ends of the 5 meter extension cable, check that the RCA and power connectors are still plugged in into each other
4. If the camera is still not showing the expected image, then check for damage and the integrity of all inline cables
5. If none of these steps has found a fault, then it's possible that the camera itself is faulty.
6. To validate a faulty camera as a troubleshooting exercise (at the 'Camera/Power' harness), swap the front RCA connector with the rear RCA connector (front camera into the rear camera circuit).
This will effectively make the front camera the rear and the rear camera the front. You will need to put the telehandler in the rear drive selection.
7. If an image appears from the front camera when the rear drive is selected, then there's a fault in the harness
8. If a blue rectangle still appears on the screen, then the front camera is faulty. Order a new front camera from EQSS and replace the faulty front camera.

This will effectively make the rear camera the front and the front camera the rear. You will need to put the telehandler in the front drive selection.
7. If an image appears from the rear camera when the front drive is selected, then there's a fault in the harness
8. If a blue rectangle still appears on the screen, then the rear camera is faulty. Order a new rear camera from EQSS and replace the faulty rear camera.

Problem:
Telehandler in drive forward selection, but onscreen displayed image appears inverted.

Troubleshooting Steps:
The camera pigtail has 3 connectors:
1. RCA Video connector
2. DC power jack
3. Two terminal micro-connector.
The micro connector accepts an included jumper that inverts the video signal. This enables more flexibility in camera mounting positions.

Problem:
Telehandler in reverse drive selection, but onscreen displayed image appears inverted.

Troubleshooting Steps:
The camera pigtail has 3 connectors:
1. RCA Video connector
2. DC power jack
3. Two terminal micro-connector.
The micro connector accepts an included jumper that inverts the video signal. This enables more flexibility in camera mounting positions.
