Customers can order replacement steel cable from EQSS and replace that cable out in the field. Successful completion of this task does require some mechanical and technical skill.
Follow the instructions below to replace the wire on 6326 Cable Reeler:
1. Disconnect the M12 electrical connector from the base of the cable reeler
2. Remove the existing cable reeler wire from the anchor point
3. Remove the bolts attaching the cable reeler to the side of the boom
4. Place and anchor the cable reeler to a solid workbench
5. Undo the bolt on the top of the cable reeler to remove the cover
6. Unwind the existing wire from the cable reeler drum
7. Locate the wire anchor position running through the plate at the top of the drum and cut the existing
wire to completely remove from the drum and properly discard the existing wire
8. On the supplied replacement wire locate the end of the wire and thread it through the wire anchor
into the top plate of the drum. Make a knot in the end of the wire to secure the wire to the drum.
9. Wind the wire onto the drum in a counter-clockwise direction
Note: If the cable reeler is not mounted on the engine side of the boom but on the cabin side, then,
wind the wire onto the drum in a clockwise direction
10. Rotate the drum in a counter-clockwise direction until you start to feel tension. Rotate the drum in a
counter-clockwise direction for 4 complete revolutions. This will apply pretension to the wire,
preventing the wire from sagging when the boom is retracted.
Note: If the cable reeler is not mounted on the engine side of the boom but on the cabin side then,
apply the pretension to the drum in a clockwise direction
11. Run the wire through the hole in the cable reeler cover and reattach the cover
12. Mount the cable reeler back on the boom, attach the end of the wire to the anchor point and
reconnect the M12 electrical connector
Once the cable reeler has been reinstalled onto the boom it is recommended to check the boom angle and
boom length sensor calibrations.
Follow the steps below to perform the sensor calibrations.
Sensor Calibration
Once the installation is complete, the sensors will require calibration.
Follow the steps in the tables below:
A sensor calibration must be performed once the cable reeler
and CPIM have been mounted. If the cable reeler or CPIM
have been moved/re-positioned, a re-calibration must be
performed.
