Gen3 - Installation - Generic Power Supply

Notes
The Gen3 LMS requires power provided by the machine electrical system
The following sections serve to illustrate common electrical connections from the Gen 3 safety system to the existing electronics in the machine. The purpose of this Tech Doc is not to provide a wiring setup for any specific telehandler, but rather to provide generic guidance for customers when trying to troubleshoot electrical power supply issues. Wire colors may not match your machine and are used here as convenient aids.

The system requires a constant 12V supply coming from the machine main battery - as well as a 12V signal when the machine is in accessories or is active. The constant 12V supply line needs to be able to draw at least 1.5 A of current to power the Gen3 LMS system. A ground connection is also required. These lines can usually be found on the radio power connector (if fitted).  Added to the main battery is also a  back up battery that is installed with the Gen 3 system.

Below is a photo of the back up battery that is installed with the Gen 3 system.
Battery Terminals Connected

A 3-Pin connector with 3 bare wires will have been supplied with the kit (called the power connector). Splice the black wire going into pin 1 of the power connector - into the machine ground line. Splice the violet wire going into pin 2 of the power connector into the accessories line and splice the yellow wire going into pin 3 of the power connector into the constant power line. Once the power connections have been completed, connect the backup battery. Attach the red connector to the positive battery terminal and connect the black connector to the negative battery terminal.
Warning
The Gen3 LMS requires 1.5 A of current. Ensure the constant 12V supply connection is able to supply this current without blowing any existing fuses in the machine.
