What the Gen 3 ITC system is not
Info
The Gen 3 LMS system was never designed to be a weight measuring system but rather, it is a weight monitoring system, intended to create safety cutouts when the machine (on which it is mounted), is pushed beyond safety limits.
As outlined above, the Gen 3 LMS ITC system uses pressure sensors and an articulation angle sensor to monitor shifting hydraulic pressures during the normal use of the ITC. The sensor data is then used to calculate and provide a good approximation of the weight being lifted by the ITC.

This system is certainly capable of dynamically providing the operator with an indication of the weight being lifted, but this displayed weight should never be treated as if it has been taken from a set of scales. Based upon the Gen 3 calculated load, as soon as the Gen 3 system senses that the ITC machine has been pushed into an unsafe state, it will cutout operation of the hydraulics.
AlertThe weight monitoring capability of the Gen 3 system is perfectly suited for it's intended purpose (to provide an additional level of safety by monitoring the weight being lifted and then to create cutouts if the capacity has been exceeded).

System Overview:
The GEN3-RCL-ITC consists five major functional modules. These modules are connected via a Controller Area Network Bus (CAN2.0B). The CAN bus reduces the system interconnection wiring requirements and allows for quick installation and easy module change over in the event of damage.

Shown below is a block diagram and module overview:

Shown below are the major System Components

System Functional Properties:
The EQSS GEN3-RCL-ITC contains the following functionality properties. The system's functionality has been designed to meet and exceed the requirements of the Australian Standard AS1418-19 / AS1418-5 for freely suspended loads and AS1418-10 for elevated work platforms. Additionally, world wide standards have been taken into consideration.

Chassis Angles
The current chassis angle in both NS and EW directions are displayed to the operator. These variables are displayed in numerical digits with a 0.1 degree resolution. The chassis angles will also be displayed with an easy to read graphic widget.

Articulation Angle
The current articulation angle will be displayed to the operator. This variable is displayed in numerical digits with a 0.1 degree resolution. The articulation angle will also be displayed with an easy to read graphic widget.

Boom Angle
The current boom angle will be displayed to the operator. This variable is displayed in numerical digits with a 0.1 degree resolution.

Working Radius
The current working radius with attachment offsets applied is displayed to the operator (in numerical digits with a 0.1 meter resolution).

Working Height
The current working Height with attachment offsets applied is displayed to the operator (in numerical digits with a 0.1 meter resolution).

Cross Slope Stability Indicator
The real time cross slope stability will be displayed to the operator by a horizontal slider bar at the top of the display. Depending on the slide slope and direction, the bar will increase from left to right or right to left from the center of the bar. The cross slope stability is displayed as a percentage (%) variable with a resolution of 1%. The slider bar will change color (green, yellow red), depending on the cross slope stability.

Longitudinal Moment Stability Indicator
The real time longitudinal moment stability indicator will be displayed to the operator by a vertical slider bar on the left hand side of the display. Depending on the longitudinal stability, the index bar will increase from 0 to 100%. The longitudinal moment is displayed as a percentage (%) variable with a resolution of 1%. The slider bar will change color (green, yellow red), depending on the longitudinal moment.

Current Load
The current lifting load with attachment offsets applied is displayed to the operator in numerical digits with a 100 Kg resolution

Attachment Maximum Rated Capacity
The real time maximum rated capacity is displayed to the operator by a multi stage bar graph. The maximum rated moment is displayed as a percentage (%) variable with a resolution of 1%.

Reverse Camera Display
When the machine enters reverse, a live video stream from the rear of the machine will be displayed.

Man Basket Camera-1 Display
The operator can select to view the man basket camera-1 via a selection switch. The camera will be connected to the GEN3 system via a patch lead from the basket.

Man Basket Camera-2 Display
The operator can select to view the man basket camera-2 via a selection switch. The camera will be connected to the GEN3 system via a patch lead from the basket.

Modular CAN bus Interconnection Design
The system is designed in a modular fashion where each node is connected via the CAN bus. This allows for quick installation, advanced diagnostics, and the ability to plug and play additional nodes as required; such as an external light tower.

System Configuration Machine Type and Language Settings
The Display has an integrated 8 Gb SD card which holds all machine calibration data, rating charts and additional information. The Display is provided pre-loaded with all machine data for each ITC.

System Calibration
The system is calibrated using the display. The calibration process involves zeroing the installed sensors. Typical machine calibration post installation is approx 5 minutes.

Data Logging
Data logging of all system events is logged on the SD card against a date and time stamp generated by the internal system clock. Machine overload and tool selection log events are backed up for the purpose of redundancy. The data log can be accessed via laptop software.

Attachment Selection
Attachment selection is made manually by the operator, an additional CAN bus module may be added to the system - if RFID automatic tool recognition is required. During manual selection, the operator will be able to scroll through the attachments selected for the machine, i.e. forks, bucket, basket, jib etc. On selection of the attachment, the operator is required to confirm the change. When an attachment change is made, the event log file is updated with the date time and attachment change for record keeping purposes.

System Test Function
The system test function is available through the user menu and is used to test all system control circuits. The system will simulate an overload on both the RCL and LMI subsystems to produce an aggravated movement cut-out. Further diagnostics of the system sensors will be performed and the operator will be notified of any failed test conditions.

Audible Alarms
The Display incorporates high quality digital audio. System status notifications are made via audio tones.

Machine De-rating Ability
The system has incorporated a software selectable de-rating function, that when set, can de-rate the machines maximum lifting capacity to a defined limit as specified in kilograms.

Calibration Data and Rating Charts
All machine calibration data and digital rating charts will be supplied free of charge with all units as standard. If the customer requires a special non standard attachment, charges may apply.

Firmware Updates
If firmware updates are required, these will be made by the EQSS engineers and supplied free of charge. This doesn’t include major functional changes.

Calibration and Configuration Software
The EQSS GEN3-RCL-ITC calibration and configuration software is available free of charge and is downloadable from the EQSS website.

Documentation
The EQSS GEN3-RCL-ITC is supplied with a comprehensive full color Installation and User Manual.

Applicable Standards
