The rating of a Telehandler is the maximum load that can be
handled taking into account: the capacity of the Telehandler, the
capacity of the tool, the operating radius, the position of the
outriggers.
The Australian Standard AS1418-19 requires that a Telehandler,
when lifting a freely suspended load, must be fitted with a Load
Management System or be limited to 3 tonne or less.
The eqss™ 6275 MCL satisfies the AS requirements by limiting
the maximum lift capacity of the Telehandler to 3 tonne or less
when fitted with a hook or jib.

Using the same compliment of equipment on smaller machines, the tool and Telehandler
can be protected from overload by matching the capacity limiter to the load limit of the tool
or Telehandler (whichever is the lower).
The capacity limiter operation is incorporated into the controls of the Telehandler to operate
in parallel with the longitudinal moment limiter.
Attachment/Telehandler Capacity Combinations:
• Telehandler capacity greater than 3 tonne - hook or jib capacity greater than 3 tonne
use a 3 tonne capacity limiter as required by AS 1418.19.
• Telehandler capacity greater than 3 tonne - hook or jib capacity less than 3 tonne
use a capacity limiter set to the capacity of the tool.
• Telehandler capacity less than 3 tonne - hook or jib capacity greater than 3 tonne
use a capacity limiter set to the capacity of the Telehandler.
• Telehandler capacity less than 3 tonne - hook or jib capacity less than Telehandler
capacity, use a capacity limiter set to the capacity of the tool.
Definitions:
Capacity is the maximum load that can be handled by the design of the Telehandler and is
set by the strength and stability of the machine.
Rating is the load the telehandler can lift at a particular radius and height. The rating is
specific to the tool attachment and is defined by the manufacturers rating charts.
