Crush Guard - Mechanical - Maintenance

The components of the Crush Guard® require periodic checks and maintenance to be performed to ensure it remains in good working order.

Clean the Magnetic Anchor

The magnetic anchor can accumulate metallic debris. If too much debris accumulates around the magnet, the magnetic release may not function. If too much debris accumulates on the surface of the magnet, it may not correctly anchor the wire rope causing the system to remain in alarm. Wipe material away from the magnet using a clean cloth.

Lubricate Wire

The wire rope running inside the two 90 degree pipes needs to be lubricated. If there is too much friction between the wire and the pipes, it can effect the tension in the wire rope, preventing the rope switch from resetting properly once triggered. Release the magnetic anchor and spray CRC Dry Glide through the 90 degree pipes to lubricate the wire.

Adjust Wire Rope Tension

The wire rope is attached to a wire rope switch. If the right amount of tension is not applied to the wire rope switch, the system will alarm. To adjust the wire rope tension, first remove the bolt holding the right rubber cover and pull the rubber cover onto the blue hose to access the tension marker on the rope switch.

Locate the magnetic anchor on the left side of the frame, release the M5 nut on top of the magnet to allow the magnet to move along the eyebolt shaft. Adjust the position of the M5 nylock nut on the end of the eyebolt shaft until the tension marker on the rope switch is in the position as shown in the picture below. Once the adjustments have been completed, secure the top M5 nut on the magnet and reattach the right rubber cover. 

Cleaning the Crush Guard®

The Crush Guard® can be hand cleaned using a cloth and standard cleaning solutions.

Do Not High Pressure Wash. This may cause water ingress which will damage the electrical components inside.
