Some Overwatch Kits contain a Hybrid ECU module and are NOT compatible with standard 6253 Overwatch software
The Skyjack SJ12/16/20 - E series, some LGMG EWP machines, some Haulotte EWP machines are equipped with an Overwatch Hybrid system and therefore use the hybrid release software. These hybrid modules are NOT compatible with standard Overwatch software. Hybrid modules can be identified by looking at the serial number sequence. If the EQSS serial number starts with 6253 (6253E-xxxx-xxxx) then this is not a hybrid ECU, but is a normal Overwatch system ECU. If the ECU module starts with a A2039 (A2039-xxxx-xxxx) then this is a hybrid ECU module.
When the hybrid ECU is placed in WiFi mode, it simply announces that it's in WiFi mode. There are NO updates for the Overwatch Hybrid module that actually say ' WiFi Mode, Version 8'. Please do NOT try to use the standard 6253 Overwatch software releases as they will simply either not work or at the worst, brick the ECU hybrid module.
From a user perspective, the Overwatch hybrid system presents itself exactly the same as the standard 6253 Overwatch. Therefore, the Overwatch user manual on our website is completely valid also for the hybrid version. Software versions are where they differ from each other and this is due to how they are electronically configured internally.
The hyperlink below could be used to recover a bricked Hybrid module (if you can WiFi to it). If you are unsuccessful in recovering the module then you will need to send it to EQSS for re-flashing. The provided hyperlink will function correctly with Firefox or Safari but not Chrome.
If you do manage to recover the hybrid ECU module with the above hyperlink, you will still need to complete the configuration selection (select the model from the drop down list) and then you will need to complete the Overwatch Installation test. Only then will the EWP function normally again.
