Gen3 - Fault - SD Card Read Only Issue

When using the Gen3 Configuration Tool you may get the following error messages

Or when copying an update.tar file provided by EQSS support to the SD card you receive the following message

The disk is write-protected.
Remove the write-protection or use another disk.

These error messages indicate that Windows can't write to the SD Card. There are two common causes for this
  1. SD Locking Tab Set To Lock Position - The tab on the side of the SD card must be pushed up towards the top to the gold pins.

  2. Bug When Using External Card Reader - When using an external card reader Windows sometimes incorrectly marks the SD Card as read only. The only solution is to change the external card reader to a different USB port on the computer, this will get windows to reinitialise the external card reader driver which should correct the SD card read only bug.

Plug the Card Reader Into a Different USB Port on the PC
