Gen3 - Attachments - What is a Standard Fork Attachment in Gen 3 LMS

Notes
As far as the Gen 3 LMS system is concerned, all fork attachments are NOT the same
During normal telehandler operation, the Gen 3 LMS system monitors varying hydraulic pressure (via the four pressure sensors) to calculate telehandler lifted weights. These weight calculations are then derated (with received data from the cable reeler) as the boom is telescoped out. When a specific attachment is selected within the Gen 3 display, an attachment configuration is loaded from a Gen 3 database (database defines each specific attachment).

The data parameters that define various attachments are factors like: Attachment weight, attachment center of gravity (load center) and the geometry via calculation offsets. Different attachments will have different datasets and are therefore NOT interchangeable.

As an example:
Standard Forks for JCB 560-80 only weigh a few hundred kilos and can lift 5.5T
Bolzoni Side Shift Forks for JCB 560-80 (BFP31525) weigh 568Kg and can lift 4.9T
Fork Rotator for JCB 560-80 (LAPF60+PRC55DT) weighs 983Kg and can lift 6T

Some might call all of the above attachments 'Standard Forks', but the fact is that the side shift forks weigh 300Kg more than the basic Standard forks and the fork rotator weighs over 700Kg more than the basic Standard forks. Selecting and attempting to use the Gen 3 basic standard fork selection on the Gen 3 display, when one of the much heavier attachments is attached to the telehandler, will create onscreen erroneous weight readings and premature hydraulic cutouts. It won't place the operator in danger, however, it will become a nuisance by constantly cutting out too early.

Attachment Load Center can also be different between the various fork brands and types:
As an example:
Bolzoni Side Shift Forks for JCB 560-80 (BFP31525) weigh 568Kg and can lift 4.9T == has a load center of 600mm
vs
Fork Positioner 1800mm HSQHFP3-1525 + CFT3-1200501830 weighs 549Kg and can lift 3.8T == has a load center of 900mm

All else being equal, the different load centers would most likely display (on the Gen 3 operator display) different weight readings whilst lifting the same weight.

So how can you use a different Fork attachment, or an unlisted and totally different attachment?
EQSS can integrate (at a cost) new/different attachments for a Gen 3 LMS system.

The process is outlined below:
1. Customer sends photos of the attachment compliance plate to EQSS
2. Customer requests a printed load chart for the attachment from the attachment manufacturer and also sends that to EQSS
3. EQSS creates a digital version of the provided printed load chart and then adds that to the EQSS software
4. Customer downloads the updated software from the EQSS website and (in the software) enables the newly created telehandler attachment. Read Update Existing Gen3-LMS for New Attachments for the steps.
5. The customer then updates the display SD card and inserts it into the Gen 3 Display to complete all updates
6. The new load chart is then selected for use, however, a Load Calibration  must still be completed for that new attachment to be usable
7. The customer acquires an EQSS Gen 3 calibration cable and uses EQSS calibration software to complete a 'Load Calibration' for the new attachment load chart.
8. However, if the customer is prepared to transport the telehandler and new attachment to the EQSS  premises in Keysborough, Victoria, then EQSS can complete the Load Calibration of the new attachment for that customer.

As can be concluded with the above, it is indeed possible to add new attachments to the Gen 3 LMS system, but it's easier to simply use the pre-loaded 'Load Charts' that already have completed attachment calibrations. The pre-loaded attachments list can be found on the EQSS website here: Attachments List. Your telehandler make/model and immediately usable attachments will be listed in the appropriate section.

Alert
Standard forks are still brand and model specific. They cannot be arbitrarily swapped when a specific fork selection is made in the EQSS Gen 3 LMS system
