Gen3 - Software - Boom Angle Freeze and Incorrect Boom Length Start Up Value
This article applies to machines that have a faulty main battery and have a cable reeler software version between 3000-3008. It is recommended to replace the machine battery after following the instructions on this page to ensure the Gen3 and the machine's electronic system continue to operate correctly.
An issue has been identified with the Gen3 Cable Reeler which may cause it to function incorrectly after the ignition is switched to accessories, then the machine engine is started. This issue only occurs when the battery voltage drops below the minimum operating voltage level during the engine cranking process.
The issues that occur are as follows
- Boom Angle Value Freezes - After the engine is started, the boom angle value remains constant when raising or lowering the boom - Please be aware that when this occurs, NO onscreen error message are displayed
- Boom Length Start Up Value Incorrect - With the boom extended and after switching the machine ignition to accessories, the Gen3 system reports the incorrect boom length
A software update has been produced to solve this issue. This task is accomplished using a PC and software. The EQSS software that's required is the EQSS Gen-3 Configuration Tool (Update tab), that's part of the EQSS software tools suite. If you don't have it already loaded on your computer, you will need to download the EQSS software suite from the EQSS website.
