Gen1 - Installation Deici Icarus 40.17 Gen 1 to Gen 3 - Cable Reeler Installation

The cable reeler contains the sensors required to measure the boom extension and boom
angle to allow the Gen3 LMS to calculate the boom position.
The GEN3 and GEN1 cable reelers are mechanically identical and can be directly
swapped over.
Use the same stow switch trigger bracket and the cable anchor from the GEN1 for the
GEN3. The stow switch arm may need to be adjusted so that the switch is triggered when
the boom is fully retracted. Attach the cable reeler wire to the GEN1 cable anchor on the
first extending boom segment.

Once the cable reeler is installed:
- connect the supplied 4-Pin 10 metre cable to the M12
screw lock connector at the rear of the cable reeler (referred to as the boom cable).
- Secure
the boom cable down the fixed hydraulic lines running down the boom, using cable ties
every 200 mm, following the same path as the existing GEN1 cable.
- Cable tie to the
flexible hydraulic lines connected to the boom, ensuring that the cable does not stretch
when the boom is raised or lowered.

On some telehandlers, the boom may extend a small amount
when the hydraulic system is pressurised. If this small
extension causes the stow switch to be released, the Gen3
LMS will produce a system fault. Ensure that the arm is
triggered and is rotated forward as much as possible so this does
not occur.
